Department of Statistics

The department aims to strengthen the intellectual capacity of the students in the statistics discipline so as to equip them with adequate knowledge capable of collecting data, analyzing and making inferences under supervision in the private and public sectors of the Nigerian economy.

Entry Requirement

5 O/Level credits including Mathematics, and two from Physics, Chemistry, Computer Studies, Info. Tech and two from Biology/Agricultural Science, Geography, Technical Drawing, Economics, Further Mathematics, and other Technical/Science/Social science subjects in not more than two sittings. At least a pass in English is allowed.

How will i be taught?
The course will feature classroom discussions, assignments, group projects, case studies, lectures, questions and exercises from textbooks, PowerPoint presentations, student experiences, and responses. Lectures and Seminars will be used to teach the students and educative excursions to various places during the study period.
Career Support

At the end of the ND program, diplomats of the program should be Acquire a good knowledge of basic statistics and statistical methods, Understand the applications of statistics in commercial, industrial and scientific environment, Acquire a practical skill in data collection, analysis and research methods, Understand the use of computers for various purposes, and Set out statistical projects under supervision.
